Sharpened Hooks: The Boiling River

As with most entries of late, this one is short, but too cool to overlook: there's a rainforest river in Peru that is fed from a geothermal source, so it's boiling.  For about four miles.

If that's not the coolest thing since Zak Smith included a naturally-occurring nuclear fission reactor in a random encounter table, I don't know how to help you.
